📔 Journal by Apple: Apple hit a home run with this one. Using recent photos, Fitness activity, favorite songs and more, Journal puts a colorful stamp on even the most mundane of experiences. It’s easier than ever to reflect on thoughts and express gratitude for life’s continuous waves.

🎁 Present: This app blocks unnecessary apps and notifications, resists doomscrolling, and rewards time spent away from your phone. I’ve reclaimed several hours each week using Present.

🎵 Apple Music Collaborative Playlists: Spotify’s reign is over. A plethora of new features on Apple makes personalizing music fun. Collaborating with friends has brought us closer, sharing new music and memories.

Like a house party that never ends.

🌮 What’s the Name of the Guy Who Makes Your Food?

A migrant farmer picks your strawberries. A teenage barista handles your coffee. At some point, a person becomes involved in preparing what you consume. For many of us, there is a disconnection with these people. We’re eating food sourced anonymously and prepared remotely.

From the diet of a pricey steak, to the soil of the grass it eats, there’s value in knowing the food-to-table process. We relish in preparing our own food for this reason.

The messenger of your food holds a special key 🔑

Let’s say I walk into Smiler’s Deli and scope the buffet. I land on a beet salad with a bed of salmon. Just my type.

“Who made this fish today?” I ask the guy with a food-covered smock behind the counter. The obvious culprit.

“You did! So it’s made with love. Peace. I’m Red. What’s your name?”

Robert, he says proudly.

Robert shares a verbal slideshow, detailing the lengthy unpacking and cooking process. “Early in the morning,” he stirs the air with his finger.

“But at home, my wife cooks.”

If the vibe feels right, I’ll ask about the sourcing, and share why it’s important to me.

This is all in the name of familiarity, closeness, and community.
